Dolly Parton’s Dollywood, located in the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, is a family friendly theme park full of Southern Charm, that brings in visitors from all over. They have more than 50 rides, different Festivals during the year and so much more to do and enjoy!.
Like with any popular theme park, you have high and low seasons. The number of people at Dollywood can vary a lot depending on the time of year, the day of the week, and the weather. Lets go over the best times to visit so you can make the most out of your trip.
What are the Best Months to Visit Dollywood?
If you can, plan your visit during Spring or Fall. April/May are perfect months to visit in my opinion. The weather is just beautiful. Its cool in the morning, gets hotter in the afternoon but not unbearable. Kids are still in school and during the week the park is not over crowded at all, which means shorter wait times for rides and attractions.
Always check park times before your visit because they vary during seasons. When the temperatures starts to cool down, they normally close earlier and open later.
What are the Best Times to Visit Dollywood?
We always go to amusement parks early in the morning. We personally like to get there an hour or so before the actual park opens. Its the ideal time. Dollywood’s parking lot opens 2 hours before park opening each day. Getting there early is also the best way to beat crowds and do your must ride attractions without having to wait in lines for a long time and the weather is so nice in the morning.
What are the Best Days to Visit Dollywood?
The least crowded day of the week to visit Dollywood is normally a weekday. These days will usually have less people than weekends/holidays since Most people work during the week and kiddos are in school, which means minimal wait times for rides and attractions. If you are heading to Dollywood during high seasons like around Christmas time, plan to go during the middle of the week like Tuesday or Wednesday, so you have the best chance to enjoy everything.
What If I can’t go during Low Seasons?
If you can’t plan your trip during low seasons and are going in a month where crowds are high, like the peak Summer months, your best bet is to plan out your trip the best you can. You should plan on doing your must do rides as soon as the park opens. That way, you can beat the larger crowds. When the park gets really crowded and wait times are long, go on the less popular rides/attractions since The lines will probably be shorter for those. You can also relax for a bit and watch a show for some fun entertainment, or visit some of the shops.
Dollywood’s TimeSaver ( fast Passes )
If you don’t mind paying extra to do more, you should consider buying The TimeSaver Pass. There are 3 to choose from; TimeSaver, TimeSaver Plus and TimeSaver Premium. With the TimerSaver pass tickets, on rides/attractions that take it, you go on a different line, which is shorter than the normal line and you get on the ride faster. You also get priority seating at shows in participating theaters.
Check out our post on the TimeSaver for all the info you need!.
By using these tips, you will hopefully be able to make the most of your day at the park.
Enjoy and have fun!.
